Learning To Let Go

Let go..

You never really understand what the words mean until you really need to use them.

To let something go is not to forget it, but to stop holding on to it so tightly you can't breath, or clutching on to it so hard you can't live. Some things in life are not meant to be relived, and if they are, then they will relive themselves in their own time.

With letting go of everything, comes letting go of the future and the past. To hold on to what might happen in the moments, days, and years to come would be to waste the present moment. So if you are to truely let go, to live completely free of yourself, you must let go of it all.

I always say "live now, and love always". This, to me, is a reminder to live in this present moment and no where else, past or future. And love everything that happens in your life, now and forever. Love every heartbreak, love every breath, every heartbeat, every disaster, every success, every person. Love everything that happens in your life. It is in this way that you can live free forever.

What is "Wicca"? Part II

I have been asking myself for the past month now what I missed in the first part of my essay.
I suppose I could elaborate on a few of my points from the first article, to start.

In paragraph six I talked about how we, as Wiccans, don't place a "fall" or "divide" in our history. What I mean by this is, in Christian mythology, there exists a time when the human race is a direct manifestation of God and they go hand in hand. In Wiccan mythology there isn't a major failure of the human race in which we became seperated from our creator. We feel that we are still a part of our divine source, and that they are very proud of what they have created. We see the good that we do and we recognize that this means Spirit still moves with us and through us.

In paragraph eight I talk about never killing anything for religious purpose. For some reason, this is sometimes the hardest thing, for people who have never met a Wiccan, to believe. Let me start on this topic by explaining further the definition of a "pagan". The dictionary defines a pagan as "a person who is not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim." So, by this definition, Wicca is a pagan religion, along with Buddhism, Hinduism, and one who believes in the ancient mythologies of the Greeks, Romans, or Egyptians. I say this because I am about to tell you that there are other pagan religions that require sacrifice.

Baphomets, for example, are of a pagan religion. During the 12th and 13th centuries people who wanted to defy an entire religion, went to the complete opposite. Acknowledging that they believed in Satan, then worshipping him to defy Christians. Why would one do this? Mainly because the Christians felt that they were the only right religion, and were procreating hatred. Baphomets felt that if the Christian god was so filled with hate for other religions, then they wanted to worship the opposite of the Christian god. (Again, brief history, forgive me. Also, I wanted to insert here that I am not trying to critisize a religion, these are just my own observations.)

So anyway, all I'm trying to say is that Baphomets require sacrifice, not Wiccans. In fact, we believe that the life of an ant is just as precious as the life of any other creature. We protect life and try to make it better for as many as we can.

Now we come down to the question of using magick to do harm to another. This is a good question, and almost every Wiccan feels differently about it. I will tell you all the different beliefs, then tell you what I think. Some Wiccans feel that you can only do magick to help others, following our "code of conduct" so to speak - "And it harm none, do what ye will", and that any other kind of magick you do fails. Others feel that you can harm others with magick receiving karmic consequence from the Universe, and still others feel that if you don't really feel bad about it, or don't feel that your morals have been crossed, then there is no negative repercussion.

I personally feel that if you are a true Wiccan, meaning that if you understood what it means to be, there would be no need to send those kinds of negative energies out using magick, words, or deeds.

I come back to my point in my first article when I said that praying is just like spelling. Most Wiccans feel that to do a spell, you are making all the energies around you and the desired outcome copesetic, and that you do things that are sympathetic to your outcome. To attract love for instance, you would have lots of red and pink on your alter along with hearts and anything else that reminded you of love. So that you visualize the outcome, and feel what its like to have love, and then love comes to you. Everything in a spell, and prayer, comes together to form a perfect picture of your outcome in your mind. Making all the energies flow well together. When someone prays for a certain outcome, they are doing the exact same thing. They are asking it to happen and asking God's assistance in the matter to make everything work out the way you want it to.
